NDMP default backup and restore options for providers other than NetApp/IBM/Fujitsu and EMC

You can set up default options for all NDMP backup and restore jobs that use providers other than NetApp/IBM/Fujitsu and EMC. On the Other tab, you select the NDMP provider that you use for backups and restores.

Note:

You must select a provider for backup settings and a provider for restore settings.

When you select a provider, the appropriate variables for that provider appear. Backup Exec sets the values for the variables by default. However, you can change the values to meet your needs.

Note:

Symantec has tested the variables that appear for each NDMP provider. The NDMP provider may support additional variables, but Symantec does not support them at this time.

Backup Exec does not validate the values that you enter, so you should ensure that you enter the values correctly. See the documentation from your NDMP provider for information about the values that you can use for the variables.

Some variables are specific to Backup Exec rather than to a specific NDMP vendor. For example, the @@PRESERVETREE variable is specific to Backup Exec and is the same as the Preserve tree option on the NDMP restore options for NetApp/IBM/Fujitsu. The @@PRESERVETREE option restores the data with its original directory structure intact. This option is enabled by default. If you uncheck this option, all data in the directories and the subdirectories is restored to the path you specify in the File Redirection dialog box.

See Setting the default backup and restore options for NDMP.
