The Backup Exec SQL Agent works with the SQL 2005 or later database to create database snapshots, which are read-only, point-in-time copies of an existing host database.
See About SQL 2005 or later database snapshots.
To create database snapshots
-
Select the SQL database for which you want to create a database snapshot.
-
On the Properties pane, under Settings, click Microsoft SQL.
-
In the Backup method field, select Database Snapshot (SQL 2005 or later) – Read only, point-in-time copy of another database.
-
Set the number of database snapshots per database to keep, or accept the default of four.
-
Start the database snapshot job or select other backup options from the Properties pane, and then start the backup job.
