Search Catalogs options

The Search Catalogs dialog box contains two tabs. The Name & Resource tab lets you search for data using file and media information. The Date Modified tab lets you search for data using dates.

The Name & Resource tab contains the following options:

Item

Description

File/item name

Indicates the name of the file or item that you want to find. If you do not want to limit the search to a particular file, leave this field blank to search all files.

You can use wildcard characters. Use a question mark (?) to represent any single character. Use an asterisk (*) to represent any number of characters.

For example, to include all files with the .exe extension, type *.exe.

Path

Indicates the directory in which to search. If you do not want to limit the search to a particular directory, leave this field blank to search all directories.

To search NetWare catalogs, use a forward slash (/).

Resource

Indicates the server and share in which to search. If you do not want to limit the search to a particular resource, leave this field blank to search all resources.

Media

Indicates the cataloged media to search. You can select All Cataloged Storage Media to search the entire catalog, or you can select individual media to narrow the search.

Find directories

Searches for directories listed in the Path or File/item name fields.

Include subdirectories

Searches all subdirectories below the directory listed in the Path field.

The Date Modified tab contains the following options:

All files/items

Searches for all files or items.

Find all files/items created or modified

Searches only for files or items that have been created or modified in a specified time period.

Between x/x/x and x/x/x

Specifies specific dates by month, day, and year for the search.

During the previous x month(s)

Restricts the search to the previous month or number of months specified.

During the previous x day(s)

Restricts the search to the previous day or number of days specified.
