Job activity options

View properties of active jobs in the Job Monitor.

Table: Job activity options

Item

Description

Job name

Shows the job name that was entered during job configuration.

Job type

Shows the type of job that was submitted for processing.

Job log

Shows the file name of the job log. The job log cannot be viewed until the job has completed. The job log is located in Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data.

Status

Shows the status of the operation.

Current Operation

Shows the type of operation that is currently in progress (Backup, Catalog, Restore, Verify, etc.).

Created On

Shows the type of server on which the job was created, either a central administration server or a managed media server.

This only displays if you have a central administration server or managed media server.

Server name

Shows the name of the media server that is processing the job.

Device name

Shows the name of the storage device that is processing the job.

Only data from the first stream displays for multistream jobs.

Source

Shows the name of the media or the share that is being processed.

The icon field to the left of the field name displays either of the following:

  • A disk drive icon when a backup operation is running.

  • A tape drive icon when a restore operation or a verify operation is running.

Only data from the first stream displays for multistream jobs.

Destination

Lists the location where the data is being written.

The icon field to the left of the field name displays either of the following:

  • A tape device icon when a backup operation is running.

  • A disk drive icon when a restore operation is running.

Only data from the first stream displays for multistream jobs.

Current directory

Lists the name of the current directory that is being processed.

The icon field to the left of the field displays either of the following:

  • A folder if the active job is a backup or restore operation.

  • No icon, if the active job is not a backup or restore operation, but a job such as an Erase or Format operation.

Only data from the first stream displays for multistream jobs.

Current file

Lists the name of the current file that is being processed.

The icon field to the left of the field name displays either of the following:

  • A page, if the active job is a backup or restore operation.

  • No icon, if the active job is not a backup or restore operation, but a job such as an Erase or Format operation.

Only data from the first stream displays for multistream jobs.

Media server

Lists the name of the media server on which this job is running.

If the Central Admin Server Option is installed, this media server is the managed media server that the central administration server has delegated this job to.

Delegation status

Indicates the current status of a job that is being delegated from the central administration server to the managed media server. This option appears only if the Central Admin Server Option is installed.

The following statuses may appear, where <x> is replaced with the name of the managed media server:

  • Preparing to delegate job to <x>

  • Delegating job to <x>

  • Job has been delegated to <x>

  • Job has been received by <x>

  • Job is actively running on <x>

  • Job has completed on <x>

  • Error in delegating job … re-submitting job to <x>

Directories

Indicates the number of directories that have processed.

Files

Indicates the number of files that have processed.

Skipped files

Indicates the number of files that were skipped during the operation.

Corrupt files

Indicates the number of corrupt files that were encountered during the operation.

Files in use

Indicates the number of files that were in use during the operation.

Job rate

Indicates the number of megabytes that were processed per minute.

Bytes

Indicates the number of bytes that were processed.

Start time

Indicates the time when the operation started.

Elapsed time

Indicates the length of time that has elapsed since the operation started.

Percent complete

Indicates the percentage of the job that has completed. This option appears only if Display progress indicators for backup jobs is selected as a preference.

Estimated total bytes

Indicates the total number of bytes that is estimated for the backup job during a prescan. This option appears only if Display progress indicators for backup jobs is selected as a preference.

Estimated time remaining

Indicates the estimated time it will take for the job to complete. This option appears only if Display progress indicators for backup jobs is selected as a preference.
